Naniwa BASE #3000 Finishing Stone — 185 mm

A #3000 stone is a useful step beyond an everyday sharpening finish, adding more polish and refining the edge without making the progression unnecessarily complicated.

Naniwa’s BASE #3000 follows a medium stone like a #1000, refining its scratch pattern and beginning to develop a mirror-like polish on the bevel. It’s a practical step into finer finishing, leaving a smoother, more reflective surface while retaining a useful edge for everyday kitchen work.

We’ve chosen to stock the stone without the BASE system’s case and holder because it offers good value on its own: a good #3000 finishing stone, without the added cost of the base.

Preparation: Soak in water for approximately 10 minutes before use.

In Use: Sharpen on a medium stone first, then use the #3000 to refine the edge with controlled, light pressure. Keep the surface wet and finish with gentle passes, taking care to remove any remaining burr.

Care: Rinse after use and allow the stone to dry naturally before storing. Flatten periodically to maintain an even working surface.
