Negiiru Wooden Scallion Shredder — 130 mm

$13.00

Those fine curls of scallion on a bowl of ramen look like a lot of patient knife work. Often, the secret is a simple tool like this.

The Negiiru makes shiraga negi—the fine, lengthwise shreds of onion commonly used as a garnish in Japanese cooking—much more approachable. Closely spaced stainless steel blades cut narrow strips for topping noodles, grilled meats, salads, and more.

The natural wood body is compact and uncomplicated, with approximately 2 mm between the blades. It’s a specialized tool, but a useful one if you enjoy the little finishing touches that make a dish feel complete.

Length: 130 mm
Body: Natural wood
Blades: 18-8 stainless steel
Blade spacing: Approximately 2 mm
Origin: Japan

In Use: Use it to score lengthwise strips into sections of scallion or Japanese long onion, then finish cutting them free with a knife as needed. A brief soak in ice water helps the shreds curl and crisp; drain well before serving.

Care: Wash by hand, clean carefully between the blades, and allow the wooden body to dry thoroughly before storing.
